The whole world mourns the victims of the terrorist act which took place in Iran. Let us remind, on the 22nd of September 2018 gunmen opened a fire during the military parade in the southern city of Ahvaz in Iran. This disaster spread across the world with enormous uproar entailing flurry of criticism and accusations at International level. After gunmen committed a terrorist act, which claimed lives and left 60 people injured Iran’s leaders in the face of Khamenei and Rouhani decried the U.S. According to Rouhani, the USA has incited Gulf Arab states to commit a terrorist act in Iran. He noted that paramilitaries were backed by America and Israel thus Rouhani threatened to take a devastating revenge from the culprits of this disaster.
Eurasia Diary asked international experts Paul Goble and Peter Tase to comment on the current situation between the USA and Iran.
Paul Goble, an American analyst, writer and columnist who served as special adviser on Soviet nationality issues and Baltic affairs to Secretary of State James Baker shared his thoughts on the alleged involvement of the USA on Saturday’s terrorist act in Iran.
Paul A. Goble - Political analyst and writer
Expert noted:” I am certain the U.S was not involved, but if Tehran believes otherwise, it will make future bilateral relations even more difficult. Washington has denounced the attack and Tehran should accept that as an indication that someone in countries allied with the U.S may have done this but not at U.S suggestion but over American objections”.
He also added the following words: “We can't know where the attack was planned. It might be a government or a non-government actor. The US wasn't behind it, but if Iran thinks the US was, that will drive its decisions”.
Another expert in the face of Peter Tase shared his opinion on the latest event happened in Iran.
Peter Tase - political analyst
Peter Tase, an American journalist, expert on political and international relations at the University of Chicago emphasized: “US - Iran relations are at their worst moment since 1979. I observe that such a terrorist attack is simply a brutal act committed by domestic dissidents and their associates within the Iranian Armed Forces. It is sad that Tehran's authorities are trying to find a “scape goat” (just like Mr. Nicolas Maduro, Venezuelan dictator who himself orchestrated a failed military coup de tat in May 2018, and all we know is that later on, he blamed the White House). The Innocent lives lost from this terrorist attack, are among many Iranian lives lost during the Ayatollahs' regime in charge of this large country in Asia. A fair, impartial and international commission must be established in order to find out the truth. It is worthwhile to mention that Iran has violated many items of Human Rights and minorities' rights that must be respected and fulfilled upon every Iranian citizen that belongs to another ethnic group but resides in Iran”.
Peter Tase also answered the question, which measures could Iran take in order to take revenge from the U.S and its allies allegedly involved in the terrorist act.
He said: ”Iran may intensify its political dialogue and commercial ties with Latin American countries, Bolivia, Venezuela, Nicaragua, Trinidad y Tobago, and Brazil. Tehran has established strong partnerships with these countries in order to offset US influence in the Hemisphere and beyond. Iran must democratize its institutions and give more rights to Iranian women who desire to participate in public service. President Rouhani's efforts to debilitate Washington's diplomacy and its generous role in preserving peace and stability in the Transatlantic, Pacific and Caucasus realms, is doomed to fail and cause more economic hardships to Iranians”.
