Work on London's delayed 15 billion-pound flagship train link will be concluded under a new chief executive, Crossrail said on Friday.
Mark Wild, managing director of London Underground, will replace Simon Wright as chief executive after the announcement in August of a nine-month delay in Europe's largest infrastructure project.
The new line will link central London to Heathrow Airport and areas to the west and east of the capital, sharply cutting travelling times for passengers.
Wild will take leave from London Underground until the project opens fully in late 2019, Crossrail said.
The Elizabeth line, as it is officially known, is expected to carry 200 million passengers a year and connect destinations such as Heathrow and Paddington station in west London to areas including the Canary Wharf financial district.
The government has said it will provide extra funding for the project via a 350 million-pound loan.
