The Chairman of the International Relations Department of Istanbul Arel University and the Strategic and International Studies Center, a Doctor of Philosophy Hasret Chomak shared views with "Eurasia Diary" related the diplomatic crisis between Turkey and the Netherlands.
Chomak said Turkey and Netherlands are the ally countries in NATO and the Netherlands's not giving the permission to Turkish Foreign Minister's aircraft to land is contrary to the rules of diplomatic courtesy:
A state can take action where it's sovereign as in areas as the general health, public safety, public order. Has coming of the Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs really created a threat for this country? It is to be discussed.
In addition, preventing the Family and Social Affairs Minister's entry to the Consulate General of Turkey who crossed to the Netherlands from Germany is contrary to international norms. Both countries had to increase diplomatic ties before reaching this stage. The deterioration of relations is contrary to the interests of the parties and to European values. The development of cooperation in order to increase the well-being of nations is more important.
Turkey within the membership negotiations with EU should cooperate more with member countries of the alliance. The parties should act in accordance with the rules of diplomatic courtesy when giving a statement. The efforts have to be increased to normalize relations as soon as possible".
