Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov gave an interview to the media partner "Alkast.lt" portal of the "Eurasia Diary" during his official visit to Lithuania.
The minister spoke about the cooperation between Azerbaijan and Lithuania. He reminded that diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Lithuania were established in 1918.
Minister noted that the Consulate of Lithuania in Azerbaijan Democratic Republic is operating and that next year 100 of the establishments of diplomatic relations between the two countries will be marked.
Elmar Mammadyarov declared that Lithuania fully supports the "South" natural gas corridor project as EU member.
The significance of the North-South transport corridor project was especially noted.
Minister clarified that this project will combine the Indian Ocean Basin countries with the Baltic region. As a result, Lithuanian companies will benefit.
Moreover, he identified that referring to the negotiations process for resolving the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh problem the Minister should resolve the issue within the framework of territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan and in the framework of the UN Security Council's decision the Armenian armed forces must be immediately and unconditionally withdrawn from all occupied territories of Azerbaijan.
Mr.Mammadyarov added that" None of these resolutions has been implemented. Unfortunately, the world is full of double standards”.
