Miloš Prica - Ambassador at Large, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to United Nations shared his opinion about Baku Forum on Sustainable Development with Eurasia Diary.
“This Forum is so important, because we know there is no country in the world that could successfully do all the homework regarding the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) being completed in 2030 without cooperation with others, without hearing others out. This Forum is an excellent opportunity for all of us to hear what has been achieved not only in Azerbaijan but also in other countries, to listen and to observe and to see what we could take and also implement of those experiences in our country. ”, Miloš Prica said.
He also highlighted that Azerbaijan really made a huge step forward regarding the SDGs.
“It is very good that you have undertaken as a country the initiative to host the SDG Forum because now we are on the way to see how we could achieve those goals and to get to observe as many as much as we could all the lessons learned and best practices that we are hearing here from Azerbaijan and from other countries”, Miloš Prica said.
While talking about the role of civil society in SDGs implementations, Ambassador said that regarding the NGOs, civil sector, civil society organizations, in Bosnia and Herzegovina, there are still problems there and now they are trying to see how to engage better. Currently, virtually, there is no any umbrella organization for the civil society organizations and that is a problem but Bosnia and Herzegovina tries to manage it.
“At the moment, we are consulting on how to deal with the issue. Maybe we will open the online platform where we could engage with those who are interested in. After this Voluntary National Reviews that we are going to present in July 2019 maybe we will be ready for next Voluntary National Reviews much better regarding the involvement of the civil sector that we will really love to do so”, Ambassador concluded.
