He has served as the Global Coordinator for Parliamentarians for Nuclear Nonproliferation and Disarmament since it was founded in 2002. Eurasia Diary interviewed exclusively with him.
Eurasia Diary:Mr. Alyn how do you find this event and what is your expectations from this station and plenary?
Alyn Ware: We have an international congress here in Berlin and which got civil society representatives from around the world. We don’t need war we need money that is going on weapons imported to development of healthy education and to meet sustainable development goals. There are all still nuclear weapon surrounded by threatening planet. We forgive what is them for tomorrow. Everyone must to do but the governments are not doing it yet .It is people who gonna push government to do it. We came out on the street today to have this project in front of the parliament .Reminding public that these nuclear weapons surrounded and we have to do something to stop them and eliminating nuclear weapons.
Eurasia Diary:What is the problem that there are many increasing conflicts all around the world ?What is the reason ?Is its reason that we are not working well or enough or how do you find the reason?
Alyn Ware:Conflict is natural. It is always gonna be like differences of opinions and differences of interest .How you deal with the conflict that is important. You can decide to deal with threatening ,bullying, fighting or you can choose trying to resolve conflict . Too often people are going threatening, bullying or fighting about it . We have really good mechanisms for resolving conflict in a peace way like United Nations, Organization for Security and co-operation in Europe. Too often people back on the military options like NATO. So here we are reminding people that always you can resolve this conflicts.
Eurasia Diary:Do you think that the important reason of increasing of these conflicts around the world is the roles of super governments or do they support increasing conflicts around the world ?
Alyn Ware:Well, it is a mixture of reasons. One is said that there are strong, powerful cooperations that making a lot of money out of the war and by keeping encourageing governments to buy more weapons and exaggerating threat from other side. In other word, give more money that is the problem. This is also a problem of people who think that they can buy power by creating of an enemy .For me I particularly against these horrible people with horrible country or horrible religion.People are power hungry and often abuse reality and unfortunately if people are uninformed they can follow this created propaganda from the military cooperation of those powers.
Eurasia Diary:Being the co-founder of UN resolutions, how do we can achieve the peace?
Alyn Ware:United Nations has a lot of mechanisms resolving conflict: mediation, negotiation, arbitration and judication and it is doing really good job. We have many instances. I come from new Zealand. We had conflicts we had France testing nuclear weapons area and blowing up an it is one of the act of state terrorism. We did not get a war against France. We went to United Nations and resolved the issue and now we are back peace with France .So we have many examples from different areas like this including with Russia .Norway and Russia had a territorial dispute over the higher north pole in the Barents sea. There did not have a war that they took the issue Sea trial tribune it took 3 years getting negotiations, and resolved and now have another peace treaty .That is why about these mechanisms we need to inform people this possibilities if they know about them they can support them .
Eurasia Diary: It was more than 25 years that azerbaijani territories was occupied by Armenian forces. There are 4 resolutions by UN Security Council. There are more than 1 million refugees in our country and still the conflict is not resolved .There is no impact of these UN resolutions on our conflict. How do you think that UN have no power to resolve this conflict and how we can do for these resolutions ?
Alyn Ware:I can only say that do UN can work effectively and our area is East Timor .It is a small country occupied ,invaded by Indonesia of big powerful country and UN negotiated Indonesia to leave East Timor and they overcame independent and we have seen that UN can work and Azerbaijan and Armenia have to know which of the UN mechanisms will be the best to use for them.
