Oleg Kuznetsov – famous Russian politologist gave an exclusive interview to Eurasia Diary on the petition he wrote to promulgate the “top secret” materials of Armenian terrorists who blew up the car of a train on Moscow metro on January 8, 1997.His appeals to the public to sign the petition caused a huge resonance in the media and social networks. Oleg Kuznetsov told about the first results of his campaign.
Eurasia Diary: Mr. Oleg, how the campaign to collect signatures for a petition to declassify the case of Armenian terrorists is going?
Oleq Kuznetsov: As of 9 am on January 12, we have 1800 campaigner who supported our petition, on average - 350 people per day, while for the full day yesterday we overcame the barrier of 500 signatures. Participation in the campaign is no longer a matter only of citizens of Russia and Azerbaijan, residents of many European countries - Germany, France, the Netherlands, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Estonia, and the US and even Iran joined the petition. Latvia and Uzbekistan media posted links in their materials by clicking on which their readers can sign the petition. Frankly, I did not expect such activity on the part of ordinary Europeans.
Personally, I have the impression that people so tired of a long silence on the theme of Armenian terrorism that as soon as there was an opportunity to speak, the common people decided to take advantage of it immediately.
As Alexander Dumas wrote in his time, , "no army can stop an idea whose time has come."
Eurasia Diary: What are the difficulties you have encountered during the campaign?
Oleq Kuznetsov: Paradoxically, the fact is that I have no difficulty in this case. All journalists, editors and even some Azeri diplomats were ready to provide any possible help, and your website is the best example. Of course, I would like to see more activity on the part of public organizations of the Diaspora in Russia and other countries of the world, but I do not expect it, because these people, as has often been shown, completely different vital interests and values.
You can read and sign the petition on the website www.change.org.
