A court in Istanbul on Wednesday ordered Turkey's main opposition leader to pay a fine for his claims that the Turkish president and people close to him made illicit money transfers to the Isle of Man, a British crown dependency.
The Anadolu 20th Civil Court of First Instance ordered Republican People's Party (CHP) head Kemal Kilicdaroglu to pay a total of 359,000 Turkish liras (around $75,000) for immaterial damages to Recep Tayyip Erdogan and individuals close to him.
Kilicdaroglu made the claims in a speech at a CHP group meeting last November.
