Michelle Obama has kicked off her book tour with a Q&A event with Oprah Winfrey.
The former first lady begun her 10-city tour of the US to promote her memoir Becoming in her hometown Chicago yesterday.
During the event with Winfrey, Obama said people ask her if she misses the White House, to which she responds: “No, I don’t miss the house because we took what was important in that house with us and it is with us.
“It’s family, it’s values, the friendship. So, the house is beautiful and historic and, you know, an honour to live there but the people in it make it what it is.”
The release of her book, which hit the shelves yesterday, comes just after the 10 year anniversary of Barack Obama’s first presidential election win.
Winfrey, who received an advanced copy of the memoir, has chosen Becoming as her latest book club pick.
She said: “I loved it so much, I’ve already read it twice.”

“This book is everything you wanted to know and so much you didn’t even know you wanted to know. It’s a tour de force...I laughed and I cried it is exquisitely written. She just opens up herself it’s so vulnerable – and I’d say that even if I didn’t know.”
Huge Interest
Many Obama fans were left disappointed after her exclusive UK event at the Southbank Centre with author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie sold out in minutes.
Tickets were quickly advertised for more than £2,000 on resale sites but organisers asked Viagogo to remove the tickets from its listings and announced that the tickets would be.
