Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netnayahu told Russian President Vladimir Putin on Saturday that he will not tolerate Hezbollah’s threats along their border.
“Netanyahu reiterated Israel’s policy to prevent the establishment of an Iranian presence in Syria and to act against Iranian and Hezbollah aggression,” the Prime Minister’s Office said after the meeting, as quoted by the Jerusalem Post.
“The two agreed that security delegations from the two countries will meet soon and that a meeting between the leaders would be coordinated,” the premier’s press office added.
On Wednesday, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) launched “Operation Northern Shield” along the Lebanese border.
The primary goal of this IDF operation is to eliminate Hezbollah’s alleged tunnel network along the Lebanese-Israeli border.
Israel claims they have destroyed at least two Hezbollah tunnels since they launched this operation; however, Lebanon’s Al-Joumhouria newspaper claims these tunnels are old and abandoned.
