On March 28th, the Ambassador of Mexico, Rodrigo Labardini, participated in the press conference dedicated to the beginning of the Week of the Francophonie. In his speech, the Ambassador Labardini stressed that this Diplomatic Representation participates for the third consecutive year in the Week of the Francophonie.
He highlighted the influence that French culture has had on Mexican literature and referred to the specific case of three great Mexican authors: Carlos Fuentes, Alfonso Reyes and Octavio Paz. He reported that the conference organized by the Embassy of Mexico in the framework of the Week of the Francophonie will focus on the work of the aforementioned Mexican authors, who maintained a strong relationship with the culture and intellectuals of France.
Mexico participates as an observer country in the International Organization of Francophonie. French culture in Mexico has permeated the life of Mexican society in areas such as architecture, gastronomy, fashion and, of course, literature. Today, it is the leading country in Latin America with the largest number of French students.
