Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov attended the annual meeting with students and professors at the Foreign Ministry’s Diplomatic Academy. He made several statements condemning the policy of the West.
Lavrov thinks that the US is trying to gain huge control over the world and mainly achieves this by controlling.
"The United States and its closest allies - the British and some others - are in fact making attempts to privatize the secretariats of international organizations, place their representatives there and control secretariat officials from countries on which they can put pressure in order to make the world believe it is the secretariats that put forward certain ideas that actually would not be accepted at international negotiations, while they concern very important issues,"
Lavrov advices that multipolarity is about to replace the Western liberal model of development, which is losing its attractiveness
"The Western liberal model of development, which particularly stipulates a partial loss of national sovereignty - this is what our Western colleagues aimed at when they invented what they called globalization - is losing its attractiveness and is no more viewed as a perfect model for all. Moreover, many people in the very western countries are skeptical about it," Lavrov said.
The economic growth of rival states makes the US no longer to compete honestly, Lavrov explained.
The minister noted that the United States continued to be a leading power from a purely economic viewpoint. "However, its relative role is declining," he said. "While the Chinese, Indian economies and the economies of some other countries and regions have been growing rapidly, the US economy is no longer able to compete honestly. That’s what we have seen over the past two or three years."
