The impact of regional and global processes on the South Caucasus is inevitable. A situation has arisen where the Russian-Ukrainian war has receded into the background. Now the Middle East, Israel-Iran relations are on the agenda. How will the processes affect Azerbaijan?
Politologue Tofig Abbasov commented regarding the issue to Ednews. According to him, the seriousness of the situation is related to the fact that the power holders and the centers are deliberately striving to create chaos.
"They are doing their best to increase the number of conflict situations and new hotspots. They think that if there is a global crisis, they will be the last to fall and rise again. This is not the case. In fact, there is a serious conflict zone close to it right now. and one of them is the Caucasus. Some politicians are working to make the global war a reality. The Caucasus is a very sensitive and important region. First of all, we are talking about the communication potential, and on the other hand, we have become a participant in them. "This also plays a key role in the West, East, North, South, South-West and South-East of all these directions. If a problematic situation arises, the fate of all world trade and global projects will be in question."
The political scientist noted that relations between Iran and Israel have become tense. The voice of the Azerbaijani state has already been heard and called both sides to behave in a somewhat balanced manner:
"This call is the result of a pragmatic view. Our state also participated in the war with Armenia. Our war ended very fairly, and as a result, we proposed to Armenia that they should start integration processes. Of course, there were forces that pushed them aside in the process, and we know who they were. The new geospatial map of the Middle East was already drawn a long time ago, and there were issues like the partition of Turkey and the creation of Kurdistan. Of course, they approach these issues in the context of their own views and calculations. Also, Turkey is not a weak country and it has its own weight in the world community. Our strategic partnership is an important factor."
