Amid escalating tensions following Iran's recent attack, the United States anticipates Israel's response to be limited, focusing primarily on military and strategic targets. Meanwhile, voices within Iran discuss potential retaliatory measures, including targeting neighboring countries like Azerbaijan.
Chingiz Goytürk, a political activist and chairman of the National State Council of South Azerbaijan, shared insights with Ednews regarding the situation. He emphasized that Israeli officials have consistently stated that any attack on Iran would aim solely at military and strategic objectives. Goytürk noted that Israel seeks to form an international coalition against Iran, although such efforts have not materialized due to Western concerns about regional stability.
Goytürk highlighted Israel's reluctance to engage in a large-scale conflict with Iran alone, instead preferring occasional limited operations to curb Iran's support for terrorist groups in the region. He dismissed Iran's threats against neighboring states, including Azerbaijan, as empty rhetoric designed to instill fear.
Furthermore, Goytürk pointed out a critical factor preventing Israel from launching a full-scale war against Iran: the distance between the two countries. Any Iranian attack on neighboring states would effectively shorten the distance between Iran and Israel, a scenario Iran cannot afford.
