The last year was record in number of satellites launched to orbit - almost 450 satellite payloads were launched to orbit in 2018, an astrophysicist at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics in Cambridge, Jonathan McDowell, said.
"114 orbital launch attempts this year (including 2 which failed to reach orbit). 447 satellite payloads launched to orbit (plus or minus a few as data from the SSO-A launch is still not fully available) - the latter is a new record, just beating last year," McDowell wrote on his Twitter page.
