Today Armenia-Azerbaijan Civil Peace Platform made a statement devoted to the International Peace Day
Eurasia Diary publishes the text of the statement.
"The right to peace is the right of everyone!
Every year on September 21, on the initiative of the UN, the international community celebrates the International Day of Peace, aimed at strengthening the ideals of peace among all countries and peoples.
The threats of global wars capable of destroying civilization, and the deep contradictions separating nations, have put before the need to pay attention to the problems of mankind and to ponder how they can be solved.
This year, the international community celebrates the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which says: recognition of the inherent dignity of all members of the human family and their equal and inalienable rights is the foundation of freedom, justice, and peace.
The International Day of Peace of 2018 is held under the slogan "The right to peace: 70 years of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights".
Unfortunately, we continue to face the results of ongoing wars, conflicts and forced migrations to the detriment of the world.
The Armenia-Azerbaijan Civil Peace Platform congratulates all those who are committed to peace and justice and calls upon governments, civil society and the media of the world to support the United Nations in its efforts to achieve and establish peace and join forces for cooperation in the name of prevention and reduction of violent conflicts. We urge everyone: individuals, governments, companies, civil society, the UN system, and others - to join us and make changes to ensure universal prosperity".
