Since time immemorial, the role of a man and a woman in various aspects of our life has been considered differently and perceived individually. A man is a breadwinner, a successful person and a head of the family, and a woman, although she has the right to vote, still stands a step lower on the social ladder. Of course, in practice there are many examples that prove the power of women and emphasize the contribution to the development of all mankind. Nevertheless, gender inequality still exists and at the same time, men themselves suffer from the consequences of such behavior.
Family disputes due to lack of financial resources
Often we are witnessing a situation when a man opposes a woman going to work, even if she has a good education and the necessary qualification. This is justified by loud cries about the necessity look after children, keep an eye on the house and cook dinner. However, such behavior of some men deprives the family of extra money, which in turn reduces the investment opportunities in the health and education of children. Mother, as a qualified specialist and a successful woman, is able to give more to her child than a housewife at the stove. Those incomes that a woman will bring to the house can be successfully invested in the future of children. Among other things, the child becomes faster self-sufficient in kindergartens, pre-school groups, and with a nanny than with the constant supervision of parents.
When a woman is forced to give up work leads to the situation when she becomes completely dependent on her husband. She has to coordinate all personal expenses with him. In such families, the cases of quarrels are not rare, which appear because of the lack of a woman’s own financial resources and the need to constantly ask permission for any purchase.
Lack of competition in the labor market
In some cases, when making a decision on hiring, employers are not guided by individual characteristics of the employee, but by generalized principles, such as: “a man is more enduring than a woman”, “a man spends more time at work”, “a man will not go on maternity leave”, “a man is less emotional”, and so on. Increasing trends in gender segregation leads to concentration of gender-based employment in very specific sectors, which in turn does not positively affect the development of the economy as a whole, leads to the lack of development of competition and the uneven distribution of labor resources in the economy.
Gender-based discrimination in the labor market has made a lot of men unable to do their favorite work. In some countries, the number of so-called “women's professions”, such as a nanny, manicurist, florist, stylist, model, cosmetologist, governor, etc., is perceived by society as an impossible occupation for men. This also applies to certain sports. A man involved in ballet, dancing, figure skating, gymnastics and a woman involved in wrestling or playing football are perceived radically. Deviations from these rules usually lead to a situation where men are shown with a finger and discussed in wide circles.
Development of feminism
When women face a problem of abusing power by men, they tend to get power, not only to acquire it, but also to gain predominance. The main idea of feminism is to create the most favorable conditions for women, for their self-realization and the development of personal potential at work, in the family and just in everyday life. Persistent gender discrimination has led to the fact that women are tired of hearing phrases such as “You're a woman, know your place!” and ventured to reveal their full potential in order to destroy stereotypes.
Thus, the reluctance of men to follow the principles of gender equality has led to the creation of a situation in which women strive to exceed men in work, in family, in everyday life, and, sometimes, quite successfully. In turn, this situation leads to the emergence of an opposition position in the views between a man and a woman. And this, in turn, leads to disagreements in the family and irreparable consequences. Sometimes a woman no longer requires equality, but seeks to gain superiority.
Maternity is a key moment in the identity of a woman; however, this should not be exposed as the only perspective. Even in the case when a woman is a housewife and is engaged in raising children, she should know and feel that she has all the rights and conditions for combining household chores, motherhood, self-development and work.
A woman, as an equal partner, is an adviser, friend, developing personality and additional support in the family. A woman with violated rights is an oppressed person who experiences an inferiority complex throughout her life.
Every man should remember this!
