Armenia's ex-deputy health minister Vahan Poghosyan was detained on suspicion of being involved in a series of abuses at the National Center for Combating Tuberculosis.
Investigation revealed numerous incidents of abuses at the Center and also the identity of the people who committed obvious financial abuses. These abuses were committed in 2014-2018.
"V. Poghosyan, who served as deputy health minister from December 2011 to November 2016 and coordinated a project for prevention of HIV / AIDS and organization of medical assistance to infected people implemented with funding from the Global Fund for HIV / AIDS Prevention and Tuberculosis Control, abused his official powers. He was detained on March 7, 2019 on suspicion of committing this crime," ARKA cited the investigators as saying.
