On April 22, the Bundeswehr commenced its largest military exercises in a quarter-century, as reported by Ednews citing russian outlet of TRT. These maneuvers, designed with potential conflict scenarios involving Russia in mind, are part of NATO's Quadriga 2024 exercises.
With approximately 12,000 Bundeswehr soldiers participating, the exercises focus on emergency deployments to NATO's Eastern flank. This marks a significant mobilization effort since 1988.
The drills aim to refine defensive tactics developed in response to the conflict in Ukraine. "Germany serves as a critical nexus, necessitating constant assessment for enhanced efficiency and improvements," stated Karsten Breuer, Chief Inspector of the German Armed Forces.
Furthermore, Alexander Solfran, NATO's Logistics and Rear Command Center Head, revealed plans for a joint "defense mobility space" involving Germany, Poland, and the Netherlands, open for potential expansion to other alliance members.
