Lately, the world political agenda has been dominated by allegations that Russian President Vladimir Putin will resort to nuclear weapons if he is defeated in the war with Ukraine. The reason for the allegations was Putin's statement that he was ready to use nuclear weapons to protect Russian territory. His words have caused serious concern all over the world. Even US President Joe Biden warned Putin that this would be the worst military escalation since World War II.
In his statement to Ednews, Ukrainian deputy, political commentator Oleksandr Merezhko said that such absurd news are nothing but rumors.
"Putin himself knows very well that if he uses nuclear weapons, it will bring the end of Russia. Some Western-oriented forces believe it, while others pursue their own interests by spreading such news. Because they want to prevent support for Ukraine."
The politician, spoke about the contradictory statements made recently by the official Kremlin. He emphasized that Russia has been considered the defeated party since the beginning of the war.
"Russia suffered its first defeat in the city of Kyiv, then in Kharkiv. This defeat of Russia is still spreading as a wave. Some time ago, Ukrainian troops liberated a large area from occupation. On the one hand, Russia says that less than 6,000 of its soldiers have died, and on the other hand, 3,000 citizens have been mobilized. How can Russia declare such contradictory information?
Merezhko said that Putin's declaration of mobilization puts the country and its citizens at risk, and even that this move will lead to a revolution in the country.
"In my opinion, Russia will experience its main defeat not during Putin's time, but during the time of the leader who will come after him. If we look at the history of Russia, we will see that every defeat of the big Russian division will be followed by a coup in the country. I think that the same fate awaits the current government. Even Putin's entourage is not thinking of going into the abyss with him. This situation reminds me of the situation of Adolf Hitler at the end of the Great Patriotic War," he said.
According to the deputy, if Ukraine wins this war, only then peace can happen. However, he said that this is not realistic diplomatically, because there is no trust in the other side.
"I witnessed this during the Minsk negotiations."
In the end, O. Merejko spoke about the peace negotiations offered by Azerbaijan to the Armenians and the provocations caused by the other party to prevent the signing of the agreement.
"As you can see, Azerbaijan's peace talks with Armenia are not yielding any results. If the other side is not for peace, there is no point in negotiating. Obviously, a truce during the war is just a means to strengthen militarily".
