Russian peacekeepers stationed in the Nagorno-Karabakh [(Artsakh)] conflict zone have established direct communication with the General Staffs of the Armed Forces of Armenia and Azerbaijan. The statement came from Sergey Rudskoy, Chief of the Main Operational Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, Eurasia Diary reports citing RIA Novosti.
"Continuous cooperation has been organized with the General Staffs of the Armed Forces of Armenia and Azerbaijan to resolve peacekeeping issues, prevent possible incidents, and ensure the safety of Russian servicemen; a direct communication has been established," Rudskoy said at a briefing.
"Work has been organized jointly with the Armenian and Azerbaijani sides to clarify the parameters of the peacekeeping operations," he added.
According to him, "a combat control team, which carries out round-the-clock monitoring, has been deployed” at the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces.
"The General Staff has planned all the necessary measures to ensure the safety of Russian servicemen. The staff of the peacekeeping contingent understands all the responsibility of the tasks set before it and is ready to fulfill them in accordance with the agreements reached," Sergey Rudskoy added.
