The Israeli military said on Saturday it was boosting forces in the occupied West Bank, a day after a Palestinian gunman shot seven people dead near a synagogue on the outskirts of Jerusalem, Al-Arabiya reports.
“Following an IDF (Israeli Defense Forces) situational assessment, it was decided to reinforce the Judea and Samaria (West Bank) Division with an additional battalion,” the military said.
Meanwhile, police said they had arrested 42 people following the deadly shooting at the synagogue, including members of the Palestinian gunman’s family.
“The police arrested 42 suspects for questioning, some of them from the terrorist’s family,” as well as residents from his neighbourhood in Israeli-annexed east Jerusalem, a police statement said.
