Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani announced on Tuesday that Doha received a generally "positive" response from Hamas on the proposed hostage deal, but added that it contained certain "comments."
"However, given the sensitivity of the circumstances, we will not tackle details," Al-Thani said during a joint press briefing with United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken. "We are optimistic, and we have delivered the response to the Israeli party," the Qatari prime minister noted, reiterating his calls for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
Al-Thani also drew attention to the "unfortunate" escalation of tensions in the Middle East in addition to the war in Gaza, which continues to threaten regional stability and security.
