Human Rights Watch program director Sari Bashi addressed the global community in an interview with CNN, warning that foreign states arming both sides of the conflict must cease doing so or they will continue to contribute to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
According to EDnews, referencing CNN, Bashi discussed the situation in the Middle East, highlighting that neither side in the conflict is prioritizing civilian safety.
“Iran, the United States, and the United Kingdom are providing military aid to the parties involved, which is leading to misuse of this aid against civilians,” she stated.
Bashi added, “If we want to see an end to this conflict, we must pressure third parties to halt military assistance to the warring sides.”
It should be noted that recently, U.S. President Joe Biden—whose country is a major arms supplier to Israel—issued a warning that if the situation in Gaza does not improve, the U.S. may suspend military aid to Israel.
Commenting on this, Bashi emphasized that official warnings alone are not enough to resolve the issue: “More concrete steps must be taken.”
