The Government of Japan allocated $ 11.9 million to Kyrgyzstan for implementation of three projects – the support to the Unified State Register of Population for creation of "e-government", strengthening the capacity for integrated risk management in the Kyrgyz Republic and regional cooperation in Central Asia and the project to support the "Safe School" program.
The official signing of the three documents took place in the Government of Kyrgyzstan with the participation of Prime Minister Sooronbay Zheenbekov.
The Prime Minister said that the projects that are planned to be signed will allow Kyrgyzstan to be promoted in many areas, in particular in the field of e-government, increase transparency and fairness of elections, and strengthen the safety of schools and preschool institutions.
"These directions have always been and remain among the priorities of the work of the Government of Kyrgyzstan. In turn, the government will provide the necessary assistance in the implementation of these important projects to effectively achieve their goals. The large-scale support provided on a grant basis by the Government of Japan in the framework of projects that will be implemented by UNDP and UNICEF meets the national priorities of our country," he said.
Meanwhile, Japanese Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Yoshihiro Yamomura said that these three projects will be implemented by UNDP and UNICEF.
"Japan has a great sympathy for Kyrgyzstan, which shares with us a common value – a democracy. And for a quarter of a century our government consistently helps Kyrgyzstan to develop a democratic system. I am sure that the grants provided will contribute to the further development of democracy in the country, as well as the well-being of the population," the ambassador said.
