Georgia earns nearly $3 billion from tourism

Georgia observed growth in tourist flow nearly 9.4 million, Eurasia Diary reports citing the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).

It is 7.8 percent increase compared with the previous year.

According to statistics, Georiga is the favorite destination for Russian (1.5 million) and Azerbaijani tourists (1.2 million).

Georgia earned 8.5 billion GEL ($2.96bln/€2.72bln) in 2019 which is a 7.5 percent increase compared to the previous year. 

The main reasons for visit are holidays, leisure, recreation, visiting friends/relatives, transit to other countries.
