Head of the National Center for Disease Control of Georgia Amiran Gamkrelidze told Pirveli TV that Georgia can’t open the border for tourists from countries with a high level of spread of the coronavirus, including Armenia, EDNews.net reports citing News.am.

“The first tourists will be from ‘green’ countries. The tourism department is working in this direction. Georgia will formulate bilateral agreements with countries with the lowest risk. Georgia is developing certain procedures for tourists to be tested upon their arrival, and many countries have already introduced such rules. For instance, citizens of Georgia who travel to Turkey for treatment must be tested for coronavirus no earlier than 48 hours before crossing the border. After crossing the Georgian border, tourists will undergo a checkup,” he declared, reports Ekho Kavkaza.

As reported earlier, Georgia may leave ‘a safe corridor’ for tourists from Israel, Austria, the Czech Republic and Ukraine.
