The Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan and Russia’s Altmax Holding Ltd signed memorandum on construction of a 1,500 MW combined heat and power plant in the south of Uzbekistan, EDNews.net reports citing AKIpress.
The project is estimated at $1.8 billion, TASS reported.
Construction of the combined heat and power plant will become continuation of the development of the 25 years of independence gas field.
The project will allow not only to meet local needs of the region, but also to export surplus electricity to the neighboring regions and countries (Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Afghanistan).
