"Immediate announcement of 11 people's infection with coronavirus in Azerbaijan is a good case. All governments should inform within 48 hours in the case of infection", head of Azerbaijani Representation of the World Health Organization (WHO) Hande Harmanci said at press conference, Eurasia Diary reports citing APA.
According to her, there are three stages of spread of the disease and Azerbaijan is in the first stage: "Azerbaijani government is able to detect the disease on border. They try prevent entrance of the virus."
H. Harmanci noted that death cases may occur in Azerbaijan like other countries: "If the virus spreads, then we cannot expect that there will be no death case."
"In order to help the Azerbaijani Government with coronavirus, the experts from Copenhagen and Geneva offices of the WHO are on visit to Azerbaijan. We are working together with them. Yesterday, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Health together with TABIB, the State Agency for Compulsory Medical Insurance and the Azerbaijani Food Security Agency", she added.
She said the general situation in Azerbaijan was discussed at the meeting: "The experts will stay here till March 13. We will visit various places. We will attend laboratories and hospitals. Finally, we will assist in the development of the Azerbaijani Government’s 3-6 months strategic plan on combating coronavirus. After departure of the experts, the Government may also invite other specialists of the WHO"
