A dog came back life after death

Interesting A- A A+

An Iowa pet rescue says it has taken in a puppy that survived attempted euthanasia.

King's Harvest Pet Rescue - a self-described no-kill shelter in Davenport, Iowa - posted the story in a Wednesday social media post. The shelter says that Rudolph, a dog estimated to be 7 or 8 months old, came to the rescue after a failed euthanasia attempt by another shelter.

"But God had a different plan because he woke up," the Facebook post reads.

Local TV station WQAD reports that the puppy came from a crowded shelter in Oklahoma. The station reports veterinarians had found the puppy alive after having been given medicine meant to euthanise the animal.

"He's a miracle dog, absolutely," the station quotes Kylie Jo Mitchell, who works at King's Harvest Pet Rescue.

"I've never heard of anything like this ever, this is a first."

The station reported Friday that Rudolph has been adopted but that the shelter has not confirmed or released all the adoption details.

Reports of dogs surviving attempted euthanasia have circulated in the past.

In 2011, ABC reported on a puppy from Oklahoma who was up for adoption after surviving injections that were supposed to be fatal.

The Austin American-Statesman reported last year that a Texas dog was rescued on the side of the road after it was left blind, likely by a failed attempt at euthanasia.
