The US will test the Russian Su-57 fighter in simulation conditions, Eurasia Diary reports citing Bulgarian Military News.
It’s about flight tests of an unmanned target aircraft imitating a fifth-generation Russian Su-57 fighter are being prepared.
The first flight of this device is scheduled for the first quarter of 2020. The target aircraft is given the designation “Fifth Generation Air Target,” in abbreviated form 5GAT.
The device must fulfill the functions of an adversary in training air battles in which U.S. Air Force pilots must acquire combat skills against stealth aircraft such as the Russian Su-57 or Chinese Chengdu J-20.
A drone fighter simulator is equipped with two jet engines from a Northrop T-38 Talon supersonic training aircraft. The drone has external pylons for installing weapons and various equipment.
