At the closing ceremony of the 8th World Water Forum, held on Friday, Senegal received the flag of the World Water Council as the host country of the 9th Forum.
In his comment to Eurasia Diary, Minister of Hydraulics and Sanitation in Senegal Amadou Mansour Faye said that the 8th World Water Forum in Brazil has as its overarching theme which is "Sharing Water". As for the next Forum, which will take place in Senegal in 2021, it is necessary to see the result of the 8th World Water Forum.
“That is why we are planning to organize a special forum for Africa, in Dakar (capital and largest city of Senegal) in 2021. Each World Water Forum, people discuss and go back. During the next Forum, we would like to see a result, which is more important for us”, Amadou Mansour Faye said.
The 8th World Water Forum which is the world’s biggest water-related event organized by the World Water Council (WWC) was held in Brazil from March 17 to March 23, 2018. The Forum got underway with President Temer and eleven other heads of state who gathered in Brazil’s capital Brasilia to discuss the sustainable use of water resources around the world. The topic was on the agenda of governments, enterprises and society’s voice. During the five-day sessions, more than ten thousand participants from 160 countries joined the panels and discussions.
