Habib Omran, Director of the International Relations and Media Forum on Palestine International Relations and the Director of the "Address from Palestine to the World" conference (Tavasul-3) gave an interview to the Eurasia Diary portal.
We present the readers the text of the interview:
- First of all, I thank you for this nice opportunity that you gave. I, Habib Omran, International Relations and Media Coordinator for International Relations and Media in Palestine, and I am the Director of the conference "Address from Palestine to the World" (Tavasul-3). I also write articles about the Palestinian socio-political issue.
-Mr. Habib Omran, what can you say about the double standard approach to the problem of Muslim peoples, especially, Palestinian people? This issue is also important to us because we also face the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict with the same approach.
- As a rule, politics has both common and private interests. It can be explained partly by double standards in dealing with many issues and problems. However, it is neither reasonable nor acceptable to speak about the events and interests of events from the media and employees in this field. Media is the eyes of truth, its language and pen. Therefore, the coverage of all problems by the media should be objective, based on truth. This type of fair approach is particularly relevant to national problems.
-How do you evaluate the role of the Turkish side in the organization and successful implementation of the conference?
- Located in the heart of the world, Turkey is differentiated with its unique strategic position both in the region and in the world, as well as with its rich history and its common culture with many peoples of the region. In recent years, development and innovation in science and technology, infrastructure and communications have created favorable conditions for organizing international forums and conferences. Particularly, the development of the country's political and social life makes it easier to invite participants from all over the world. These reasons also motivated us to choose Turkey and, more precisely, Istanbul for the conference.
-Azerbaijan's representative Umid Mirzayev, who participated in the conference, said that the problem of Palestine was a problem of Israel, both of us and of all humanity. What is your attitude towards this idea?
- Indeed, Israel's attacks on Palestinians, their land, property, and their aggressive acts would not have happened if the international silence and world powers refused to prevent this injustice. This will allow the occupiers to continue to infringe on the injustice and violation of international law, thus encouraging others to act in the same way, to weaken, to aggression against national minorities, and to continually break international law.
-It is clear from this that it is important for Israel to respect international laws and treaties, to impose sanctions on it, to prevent the Palestinians from continuously violating their rights, to violate the rights of other peoples around the world, especially those who have been harassed in Islamic countries, to impede the committing of deeds.
- The conference discussed a number of key issues in several working groups. What can you say about them briefly?
- The main idea of the conference was to convey the international media call to Palestine and to spread the international voice in the media in the world, in addition to the Palestinian position.
- Finally, how do you evaluate the results of the conference and the possibilities for the implementation of the decisions made?
- The Tevasul -3 conference attracted the attention of more than 65 delegates from around the world. Particularly, we should mention the participation of delegates from the South Caucasus countries, Turkey and Balkan countries for the first time. This, undoubtedly, indicates a new quality of the conference, as well as strengthening the co-operation of media workers from different countries around the world in the fair, more objective and fair coverage of events. But we are determined to further strengthen our relations and cooperation.
