Dr. Gustav R. Grob who is a President of International Sustainable Energy Organization talks Eurasia Diary in an exclusive interview.
Eurasia Diary: How do you see this 7th international energy sustainable development conference in Baku and this international event of all energy pundits who are gathering here in Baku?
Dr. Gustav R. Grob: It is a fantastic bridge between Europe and Eurasia because it is inside in the middle. As Eurasia has fantastic future in sustainable development being more resources between South areas. Now you become a leader in Pakistan has a power also to fulfill the Paris agreement actively because you are dynamic economist you still have resources and you can do this conversion, transformation to energy industry. That is a hope. I think they really convene this climate which is very dangerous threat. My proposal is to all of you including China; including India don’t put money into the arms, put money into sustainable clean development. For what you want to kill each other. India just signed contract with Russia again. Billions for arms. Do you want to kill each other? You are in peace now Pakistan and India. I think redirect funds from destructive things to constructive things to saving the Planet. It plays so much important role for the world and including China. China spends too much money for arms.
Eurasia Diary: But US is also putting a lot of money because US is the biggest arms seller in the world.
Dr. Gustav R. Grob: Yes, I know. This has to change. I think only can be change through the United Nation. UN reports encourage people to redirect funds to the right things .UN took an initiative of sustainable development goals and that was behind 25 years and also the Paris agreement is big hope for the development .It is the right circle and right time to have change of the energy state.
Eurasia Diary: How do you think that this sustainable energy future do you think that future energy is sustainable energy or what?
Dr. Gustav R. Grob: Even people think that nuclear energy is solution. There is limited uranium in the ground and to get it out you need enormous machines to refine uranium. That is wrong solution.
Eurasia Diary: New Prime Minister of the UK Theresa May, she endorsed Chinese government and they are going to take some cooperation with each other.
Dr. Gustav R. Grob: It is only talking no action. It is uneconomical, much too expensive and much too risking. It is risk like Fukushima. Because of Fukushima the whole Pacific Ocean is radioactive until the beaches of California and all is dying because of the radioactive. This technology should be prohibited by the United Nations.
Eurasia Diary: How do you see the potential of these sustainable energy alternatives in this region South Caucasus, CIS countries and Central Asia?
Dr. Gustav R. Grob: Now of course Kazakhstan , Azerbaijan they have oil and gas, also some resources which they can get finance for some new developments .We will go Astana next year. They now want to sort renewable energy and finance clean energies .You know Pakistan is also building a lot of clean energy systems and as well as South China. That is the future. My hope is young generation, young graduates who study they are going to implement it in future.
Eurasia Diary: Do you think that this sustainable energy tool could be use in conflict resolution process between the countries?
Dr. Gustav R. Grob: Absolutely, now there is a war in Syria. ISIS is stealing the territorial resources and financing the war. Many wars in the history were territorial war. Hitler had conflicts with some countries because of resources. Even in Afghanistan it was a petroleum war. Former oil minister of Saudi ArabiaSheikh Yamani said that “Stone age did not end because of lack of stones” so petroleum age doesn’t end because of lack of petroleum. It was changed because of new technology.
Eurasia Diary: My final question is that US is hunting all over the world in this globe for the oil and energy and other resources. They are collecting and grabbing resources in Iraq, Afghanistan and everywhere. But here is now giving lollypop to countries for this sustainable energy development. What can you say about this?
Dr. Gustav R. Grob: It was apprehended. It is energy source and energy policy. You see Obama has renewable energy and clean power initiative.
