'Afghanistan's government has been privy to the talks between Iran and Taliban,' said Ali Shamkhani.
Shamkhani and his Afghan counterpart Hamdollah Mohib stressed further activation of consultation mechanism between the two security bodies in order to better implement the previous agreements.
Referring to the joint meeting between the security secretaries and advisors of Iran, China, Russia, India and Afghanistan, which was held in Tehran, Shamkhani said, 'A mechanism based on continuous dialog and active participation of the regional countries in security procedures can guarantee sustainable development and security of the countries.'
Supporting the second regional security conference to be held in Kabul, he hoped that participation of other effective countries would help create more convergence and synergy in fighting terrorism and extremism.
Shamkhani said that the expansion of Daesh (ISIS) in Afghanistan is pretty 'serious' and stressed countering the ominous plot that is being supported by the US and reactionary countries of the region.
He also urged the strengthening and developing the border police stations and reopening border markets.
He also expressed Iran's readiness to cooperate with Afghanistan in transfer of science and technology to the country.
Shamkhani also said that a joint meeting with Pakistan, Turkey, and Turkmenistan will help improve security.
Mohib, the Afghan security official, said in the meeting that close talks of Iran and Afghanistan security officials is decisive in removing the barriers on the way to implement the previous agreements.
Saying that Iran has always been a main player in providing security in the region, he added that the collaborations will most definitely be helpful.
He hoped that the visit made by the secretary of the National Security Council of Iran will accelerate the finalization of political, defense, security and economic agreements between Iran and Afghanistan, so that the presidents of the two countries will be able to sign them.
