The trial of the former president of Armenia Robert Kocharyan in Yerevan continues. Kocharyan is accused of ordering a military intervention against civilians on March 1, 2008, in Yerevan. Armenian media outlets reported that several prosecutors and judges refused to attend the trial of Kocharyan. Because of they afraid of being an enemy by Kocharyan clan.
The mass protests started in Armenia on February 10, 2008, and it continued 10 days. Reasons of the conflict was result of fraud elections. Thus, the main competition in the elections was between Ter-Petrosyan and Sargsyan. As a result of the elections, Sargsyan won 52% of the vote. Ter-Petrosyan had just 21% of votes. Ter-Petrosyan, who claims that the results of the election were falsified after his defeat in the elections he urged his supporters to mass disorder and rallies. The patience of the government has expired over for citizens who have been holding rallies in front of Yerevan's theatre square for about 10 days. As a result, on March 1, 2008, by the order of Kocharyan that the army entered Yerevan and demonstrations resulted bloody. 10 civilians were killed and 33 police were injured as a result of the confrontation with the army and protesters and in general 233 people were injured.
Pashinyan, who has been in power for 1 year in Armenia after 11 years of these events, takes revenge on the Karabakh clan. Of course, Pashinyan can be understood, since he himself was an active participant in the events of 2008 and was a main supporter of Ter-Petrosyan. Now, Pashinyan intends to become a hero by taking revenge on the former leader and his regime.
The statements of the former Chief of the Armenian Military Police, Vladimir Gasparyan, was the most interesting incident in the court that he acted as a witness. Thus, Gasparyan revealed many facts during hearings. He said in the court that "the number of police forces and military units inside Yerevan was not enough to put an end to the conflict. Therefore Kocharyan ordered to bring military units from Karabakh and Azerbaijan to the border with Tavush to Yerevan. In those days, the situation was tense on the border with Azerbaijan. Every day, intensive shootings took place. At that time, Sargsyan and Kocharyan left border defenseless with Azerbaijan to stop rallies and clashes."
