The head of the so-called Karabakh Security Council, Vitaly Balasanyan, accused the ex-commander of the Karabakh armed forces, Samvel Babayan, of spreading the defeat mood among population. According to Balasanyan, Babayan goes to villages in Karabakh to talk about the transfer of five regions to Azerbaijan and the plan of Karabakh's transition to Russia's mandate.
Eurasia Diary reports to the Armenian media that Babayan claims that, apart from Kelbajar and Lachin, other regions will have to be returned.
According to Balasanyan, Samvel Babayan's actions "cause people to doubt their power and create fear". He also accused Babayan of trying to convince the Armenians that the Azerbaijani army was stronger.
"It is not appropriate to spread false information about the defeat behavior of a man named Karabakh hero, as well as the territorial concessions of Karabakh officials during the negotiations," Balasanyan said.
Babayan was the commander of the Armenian Armed Forces who occupied Shusha and gained the status of "Karabakh hero".
Babayan is expected to nominate his candidacy for next year's presidential election in Karabakh.
