‘I’m sure that the economic and political ties between Azerbaijan and Germany are at high level. Our federal chancellor also visited Baku and was accompanied by an economic delegation. This shows discussion of serious projects between the sides’, Mark Hauptmann, member of the German Bundestag from the Christian Democratic Union of Germany (CDU) told to Report News Agency.
According to him, such a mutual attention plays great role in deepening of the bilateral relations: ‘We started Germany-Azerbaijan economic dialogue. We have grounds for dialogue and partnership. On one side, the Southern Gas Corridor (SGC), which consists of TAP and TANAP, has a huge potential, and improves Europe’s gas supply. On the other hand, Azerbaijan has renewed energy sources and they can be used. Production of polymers and oil products are also interesting topic. Tourism and agriculture fields are the fields that both sides can cooperate’.
Hauptmann stressed that German Bundestag calls for peaceful solution of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict: ‘We don’t want people to be killed. We want Azerbaijan’s international sovereignty to be recognized because Karabakh is a part of Azerbaijan and therefore, we have to give new impulses on the basis of Minsk process in order Azerbaijani citizens, who were deprived of their lands, to return to their homes’.
