Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili met with presidents of international Jewish organizations within her working visit to New York, Local bureau of Report News Agency writes.
The importance of friendly relations between Georgian citizens and Jews was emphasized at the meeting.
Zourabichvili said tolerance has always existed in Georgia: “For centuries, people of different faiths and religions have been living peacefully in Georgia. It is necessary to strengthen this tradition. Thus, we have initiated Georgian tolerance to be inscribed in the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List.”
The sides also discussed Georgia's relations with Russia and other neighbors - Azerbaijan, Armenia, Turkey and Iran. Georgia's geopolitical role and importance of the transport corridor connecting Asia and Europe were also highlighted during the discussion.
