Downing Street has been forced to deny allegations Boris Johnson groped a female journalist as a storm of outrage threatened to overshadow the Conservative party conference in Manchester, Independent reports.
Opposition party leaders will meet for talks later in a bid to ensure Mr Johnson cannot push through a no-deal Brexit, with the Lib Dems keen to force the PM to ask Brussels for a delay as early as this weekend.
It comes as chancellor Sajid Javid suggested the government had a plan to get around Benn Act, calling the legislation “silly”. Dominic Grieve said the PM would be “dismissed” by the Queen if he fails to seek a delay.
