The United States issued visa denial to Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif with the purpose of blocking him to attend the United Nations Security Council meeting.
After the killing of Iranian most prominent military commander Qasem Soleimani, two sides started to give threatening messages which flared up tensions in the Middle East almost to deadlock.
According to the 1947 UN "headquarter agreement", US is allowed to give visas to foreign diplomats for attending UN meetings. But this time the US denies visa for Iranian top diplomat for “security, terrorism, and foreign policy” reasons.
Iranian FM reacted to the decision of the US as he considers that it could encourage extremism and terror.
“While US displays utter contempt for UN Charter & its catastrophic adventurism encourages extremism and terror, tomorrow we'll host Tehran Dialogue Forum & discuss ways of achieving regional security, incl Hormuz Peace Endeavor #HOPE,” he wrote in a tweet on Monday.
Tehran Dialogue Forum was initiated by Iran's President Hassan Rouhani for the reviewing latest developments with regional countries.
