As reported, Egyptian police raided Anadolu Agency's Cairo office and detained four of its employees on Tuesday evening. The police have then taken employees to an unknown location.
Accordong to Eurasia Diary, President of the International Eurasia Press Fund, Deputy Chairman of the Press Council, Umud Mirzayev, condemned the detention of employees of the Anadolu Agency:
“I strongly condemn the arrest of journalists anywhere in the world, regardless of their personality, nationality, race or religion. Actions against the staff of the Anadolu Agency in Cairo are inadmissible. If any unlawful details are found in the activities of journalists, they should be resolved in a legal manner, in a legal sense. Journalist activity is regulated and protected by international law around the world. It is important that every state and government respect these laws.”
“The incident has upset the public of Azerbaijan. I would like to convey to all the agency staff, including Shenol Kazanci, the head of the Anadolu Agency, and want to express our support to our Turkish counterparts, "The IPEF president added.
