"Those who commit violations should be punished in the future to avoid these violations. There is no need for this. These elections have once again demonstrated that our policy meets the interests of the absolute majority of our people, and the work we do is well-known."
Eurasia Diary reports that President Ilham Aliyev said it at the opening of the ASAN Service Centre in Kurdamir on February 12 during meeting with the young generation.
The President said that the parliamentary elections were competitive:
"Parliamentary elections have once again demonstrated that our intention is to promote democratic development. Even organisations that have always approached us from the most critical position have been forced to accept positive trends in their election reports. There are no perfect elections in any country, but there were no frauds, serious violations or any breaches that could cast doubt on the legitimacy or results of the elections. Some of them noted that this could be an example for many countries. Hoüever, those who committed violations shall be punished. And we will continue our work and cooperation with all international organisations in this regard.
