Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that the situation with coronavirus infection in the country is getting more serious.
He noted that currently there are 200 patients waiting for hospitalisation in Armenia:
"We have reached a critical point and we are running through hell," he said. At present, there are 200 patients waiting for hospitalisation in Armenia. The health care system is so overcrowded that it cannot deliver patients to hospitals. There are deaths due to delays in medical care. Two patients died in the general ward because there was no place in the intensive care unit to accommodate them.
Speaking at an online government briefing, the prime minister said they could not say that the economic consequences of total isolation in the country would be severe. The population does not comply with strict quarantine measures.
It should be noted that 547 people were infected with the coronavirus in Armenia over the past day. For a week now, the number of infections in the country has exceeded 500 every day. So far, 259 people have died from the infection.
