“After the failure of the attempt of attack organized by Armenia against the Azerbaijani positions on the site of Tovuz region of Armenia-Azerbaijan border during July 12-16 in order to implement Armenia’s aggressive military strategy pursuing the goal of “new war for new territories”, the military and political leaders of this country are continuing their instigating steps and statements of provocative nature in order to compensate in other planes the failure of the last military adventure and to distract the attention from the increasingly sharpening social and economic and political crisis in the country”, according to the commentary of the Press service department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Azerbaijan, EDNews.net reports citing APA.
It has been stated that all these are the bright manifestation of the fact that Armenia pursues the goal of not eliminating results of the conflict caused by Armenia but entrenching the occupation situation created by it using illegal force: “After statements of Armenia’s military and political circles about its evaluation as “military targets” of the large residential settlements of the Republic of Azerbaijan and such civil facilities of strategic significance as Mingechevir hydro-power station, the Armenian side attempts to threaten with inflicting a military blow on Ganja City of the Republic of Azerbaijan by means of the so-called “head” of the illegal regime established by Armenia on Azerbaijan’s occupied territories.
Restoration of right of safe and dignified return of Azerbaijani people, expelled their native residential places, to the permanent residential places in Nagorno Garabagh, as well as all occupied territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan, including Shusha is a red line in the resolution process of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict. Armenia’s not giving up its mentioned intention once and for all, which we assess as crossing the line, causes threat of posing serious damages.
Armenia takes measures in the direction of changing infrastructure of Sarsang water reservoir in the context of economic and other activities, carried out by it in occupied Azerbaijani territories. Armenia’s measures regarding Sarsang reservoir is the next violation of illegal exploitation of natural resources of Azerbaijan, rights of state and private property, and illegal by nature. Armenia has used Sarsang water reservoir as a ecological terrorism tool since occupation of Azerbaijani territories and deprived Azerbaijani citizens, settled nearby our occupied territories, from water resources, as a result, ecological condition in those territories have seriously been damaged, biodiversity has been harmed. Mentioned issues have been reflected in the Resolution of the Parliamentary Association of the European Council No 2085 (2016). Armenia’s attempts aimed at changing the infrastructure of the water reservoirs should be reviewed as the next step of its mentioned ecological terrorism policy.
Furthermore, all infrastructure projects, as well as establishment roads connecting Armenia with occupied Azerbaijani territories, conducted in the occupied lands, Armenia’s measures regarding Sarsang water reservoir serve for its illegal settlement policy, aims at involvement of more ethnic Armenia’s in order to be settled in occupied territories.
Armenia should put an end to test the patience of the international community, especially the Azerbaijani state and society with its provocative illegal activity and statements aimed at provocation.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan unambiguously states that the Republic of Azerbaijan is determined to take all necessary steps for restoring the territorial integrity and sovereignty, protecting the constitutional order, ensure the security and rights and freedoms of its citizens within its internationally recognized borders, using all opportunities provided by the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan and international law.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan informed the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs about these provocative attempts of Armenia aimed at purposefully intensifying the situation in the region and completely destroying the opportunities of a peaceful settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict.
In order to adequately evaluate the mentioned behavior of Armenia, refrain it from taking steps that can lead to serious dangerous consequences for the region as a whole and to peaceful settlement of the conflict, it is important to return negotiations process with a defined political and legal framework, on the basis of fur relevant resolutions of UN Security Council (822 (1993), 853 (1993), 874 (1993), 884 (1993)) and the decisions of OSCE.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will further take necessary steps too in the field of suspending illegal activity of Armenia and eliminating its consequences by using all political and diplomatic mechanisms,” it has been noted.
