US President Donald Trump vowed that if he re-elects he will reach an agreement with Iran, he said in an interview with Fox News.
“I will make a deal with Iran within the first four weeks,” he said while explaining his political course, Eurasia Diary reports.
Trump added that he thinks Iran wants to make a deal desperately. He also slams the deal of previous Democrats presidents' deal with Iran which he thinks it as incompetent.
“They want to understand what’s coming.” “But if he wins [Democratic nominee Joe], Biden, then they will conclude another deal like with John Kerry, who is incompetent, and Barack Obama, who, frankly, in terms of making deals, is incompetent,” the American leader said.
Kushner called Iran to make a deal
Past week Tuesday, Jared Kushner, the senior adviser to President Donald Trump called Iran to make a deal with Washington, he said it in Voice of America program "Plugged In with Greta Van Susteren".
“For President Rouhani, I would say it’s time for the region to move forward. Let’s stop being stuck in conflicts of the past. It’s time for people to get together and to make peace,” he said.
He also added that Trump is ready to make a deal but he will be tough.
“If there is a real deal where nuclear weapons are off the table, and we can make sure that it leads to a more prosperous the Middle East, then I believe President Trump would sit and have discussions about it,” he added.
Trump’s Iran policy
The United States of America concluded a deal with Iran in 2015 called the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) for dismantling the nuclear program. Nevertheless, Donald Trump withdrew this deal and launched sanctions on Iran in 2018.
Since the withdrawal, the relations between the two states worsened. In 2019, the US and Iran came close to the conflict in the 2019-2020 Gulf crisis. During the crisis Saudi Arabian oil company Saudi Aramco was hit. Several vessels were captured and Iran was blamed.
At the beginning of the year, US troops killed top Iranian general Qassem Soleimani. Iran retaliated with hitting US military bases. In some assaults, attacks were conducted by militant groups in Iraq but the US accused Iran of planning them.
