There is a heartbreaking situation that a number of the well-known media agencies in the world, such as BBC, Reuters and Guardian, claim that over 4000 Syrian mercenaries are operating in the battles in the occupied Karabakh territory of Azerbaijan.
These media agencies continue to highlight such information without any evidence and proof, supporting Armenian produced fake news and disinformation.
British journalist, Neil Watson regretted that the western media is still blind to the truths and realities, because of Armenian Diaspora influence and strong ties with media institutions and agencies.
In his view, the reports supporting such disinformation are against the basic rules of journalism, which are based on impartiality, balance and the use of substantiated facts.
“There is absolutely no evidence that Syrian mercenaries are being drafted by Turkey under false pretences to fight alongside Azerbaijani forces. The reason for this is published is mainly because the Armenian Diaspora is extremely powerful and wealthy in many countries and the leaders want their financial support and votes,” Watson said.
“Armenians do not recognise Azerbaijan as a nation. They regard them as Turks and this is a way of damaging the reputation of Turkey and Turkic nations generally,” he added.
According to Watson, Armenians want to turn conflict into religious view as Turkey has become more religious in recent years.
Furthermore, the British journalist also condemned western countries’ unjust and malicious position on the Karabakh conflict.
He criticized the statements made by the President of France, Emmanuel Macron and Joseph Biden, the Democratic front-runner for the US Presidency that disrespects the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
“I think the statements of Biden and Macron are solely to gain political support from the Armenian Diaspora in their own countries. They demonstrate, once again, the uselessness of the OSCE Minsk Group is an ineffective body that has been tasked with negotiating a peace to the conflict for 26 years. It is Co-Chaired by Russia, France and the US, all of which are home to significant Armenian diaspora populations.
