We are deeply concerned about the situation around Nagorno-Karabakh – said Jens Stoltenberg, NATO Secretary-General during official visit to Turkey.
Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu and Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg held a press conference following the bilateral talks.
According to Turkish news agencies, Foreign minister and Secretary-General in the press conference touched upon the significant regional issues, including the flare up of military clashes in Nagorno-Karabakh.
He said that the situation going around Nagorno-Karabakh is of concern to the whole region and NATO.
‘We are watching the situation carefully. We see the increase of escalation and hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh. Also we heard the reports of casualties from both sides,’ Stoltenberg noted.
The fighting poses threat to any kind of infrastructures, especially energy infrastructures,” he added.
Furthermore, Stoltenberg also stressed that it is important to convey a message to both sides to cease fighting immediately.
“We support all efforts to find a negotiated peaceful solution for conflict. There is no military solution to conflict,’ he said.
“The military clashes are dangerous for all people involved. It is a serious concern to the region and all NATO allies,” he added.
