The Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi held a telephonic conversation with his Azeri Counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov, and reaffirmed Pakistan’s all-out support to Azerbaijan over the Nagorno-Karabakh issue, the Dispatch News Desk (DND) news agency reported.

Talking to Azerbaijan’s foreign minister, Qureshi exchanged views on Pakistan-Azerbaijan bilateral relations, the ongoing tensions between Azerbaijan and Armenia over the Nagorno-Karabakh region, and other issues of mutual interest.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that Pakistan is deeply concerned over the deteriorating security situation in the Nagorno-Karabakh region.

The foreign minister said that heavy shelling by the Armenian forces on the Azerbaijani rural population is reprehensible.

The minister said that Pakistan stands by the leadership and people of Azerbaijan in this difficult time.

Qureshi said that we believe that long-term peace and normalization of relations between the two parties would depend on the complete and comprehensive implementation of the UN Security Council resolutions and withdrawal of Armenian forces from Azerbaijani territories.

The foreign minister appreciated the support extended by Azerbaijan for unarmed Kashmiris in all International forums including the OIC Contact Group.

The Azeri Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov expressed gratitude to Qureshi for Pakistan’s full support in the conflict.

During the conversation, the two foreign ministers expressed satisfaction over the nature of bilateral relations between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.

They agreed to bolster bilateral cooperation in multilateral fields including trade, education, and culture.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi extended an invitation to his Azeri Counterpart to visit Pakistan, which the latter accepted with thanks.
