'The Armenian side does not provide us with minefield maps. Although we know for sure that they have these maps. Thus, Armenia is committing another war crime,' President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said today in an interview with Azerbaijan TV, Eurasia Diary reports citing Azeri Daily.
The head of state stressed that more than 100 civilians were injured and killed, since after the end of the war, the maps of the minefields were not provided.
'Work in this direction will continue. New equipment is being purchased, and an order has been given to increase the staff of the Agency for Mine Action. We will try to mobilise all our forces as much as possible so that demining work proceeds at a rapid pace. At the same time, the military is also engaged in this, with assistance in this area both from Turkey and from Russia. On my instructions, several engineering battalions were created at the Ministry of Defence of Azerbaijan, which are also actively involved in these works, and so far it is the Ministry of Defence that has cleared the largest area of mines,' said the president.
